RentTheCloud.com the “real estate agent for cloud”

Pennsylvania-based IT company, A Frame Technologies, has released details of its latest cloud computing venture – a website called RentTheCloud that allows businesses seeking cloud services to search for specific products from over 100 cloud vendors across the globe.

The tool is being likened to a property brokering website, in which businesses can find the right cloud products for their requirements by selecting from a number of variables.

A Frame hope the new site will allow IT executives to “quickly search the market of quality cloud properties for their unique needs and IT environments”, by offering “a brokerage service that matches companies seeking cloud services (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) with cloud vendors”.

One issue for its potential success could yet be the fees requested for the cloud brokering service – specified to be “equal to one or two months of the cloud rental fee”, which in a large-scale organisation could equate to $1,000s.

However, A Frame are confident that by offering companies access to “experienced IT analysts and contracting specialists—known as agents” to work with clients and find “cloud properties”, the cost of the service will be matched against the value-for-money businesses find from implementing a best-fit cloud product or service.

RentTheCloud has been launched alongside an innovative methodology devised by the company called R.E.N.T, specified for businesses looking to adopt cloud technology:

(R)eview your current IT ecosystem, including application inventory, support organization, contracts, licenses, and facilities.

(E)valuate market opportunities that enable migration from current state to cloud alternatives.

(N)egotiate terms and conditions between buyer and seller.

(T)ransition to the cloud.

A Frame specify the R.E.N.T model to be particularly effective for “large enterprise customers looking to move multiple applications to the cloud (e.g. Microsoft, SAP, Oracle, etc)”:

"Although the economics of cloud computing are compelling, the market is fragmented, and we found that many businesses were inundated with varying viewpoints from their own research making it hard to make sound and timely decisions," said Dan Brennan, co-founder and Principal Partner at A-Frame Technology Services and Lead Broker at RentTheCloud.com.

"Our methodology allows CIOs to quickly take advantage of cloud benefits without the risk."

RentTheCloud.com claim they will identify a best cloud alternative for a client's IT ecosystem in no more than one to two weeks, and, taking further inspiration from the property industry, state the service will offer no charge “until systems are moved to the cloud”.
